Les Roches mushroom cellar
Discover the fascinating world of mushroom farming (button, oyster, shiitake etc.) from 50m underground. Guided visits only (at set times according to the period : see website). Also: tasting, combined visit with the tuffeau quarry and the underground town.
The Cave des Roches is the only cellar in the world to cultivate the different mushrooms 50 meters underground. The cultivation spreads over 120 kilometers of galleries on 7 stages. The old-fashioned cultivation in their natural atmosphere at 12°C results in a mushroom with incomparable flavour and guaranteed vitamins. The total production amounts to more than 100 tons of mushrooms per year, picked entirely by hand. The Cave des Roches has a varied range of mushrooms (blue foot, shii také, oyster mushroom, arvensis, old-fashioned button mushroom, etc.) and produces 40% of the world's production of blue foot.
