Benedictine abbey founded in 1034 by Geldouin de Saumur, Lord of Pontlevoy. The abbey was affected by several destructions and reconstructions, notably the 15th-century church, of which the flamboyant choir remains. Under the impetus of the St-Maur congregation, the abbey underwent a revival. It became a college, then a royal military school, and even a hospital during the First World War. This visit will precede the last performance date of the Impromptus Molière show, to be held at 7.30pm at Pontlevoy Abbey.
