La forêt de Marchenoir… à vélo
An easy loop circuit on small roads that allows you to discover the Marchenoir forest, the Citeaux forest, the Petite Beauce and the local heritage (churches, remains of the Petit Citeaux abbey ...). Forest landscapes (silviculture) alternate with cereal crops.
This route can be undertaken from each of the villages. They are typical of the Petite Beauce and frame the magnificent Marchenoir forest; each has a pretty church whose bell tower dominates the plain (a nice subject for a photo). The large forest of Marchenoir (more than 5000 ha) allows you to appreciate the coolness of the undergrowth with various species (oaks, beeches, etc...); silviculture and big game hunting are practised there.
A stop in the forest of Citeaux is necessary to discover the imposing buildings of the former Cistercian abbey Notre Dame de l'Aumône or Petit Citeaux (XIIth) rich in the XIVth but degraded by the wars.
Water is everywhere: beautiful pond in Autainville towards Laleu, pretty covered well in La Colombe (30 m away in the path from the rue de la Mairie).
