Chemin des Châteaux
In the Loir Valley, the "chemin des châteaux" circuit which stretches over the communes of Montoire-sur-le-Loir, Lavardin and Fontaine-les-Coteaux will enchant you with the interest of its heritage sites and the many cultural and natural attractions of the route.
Starting from the town centre of Montoire-sur-le-Loir, your steps will quickly lead you to discover the heritage of the Loir valley, starting with the Saint-Gilles chapel. Stop for a few moments to admire the murals of the 11th-13th centuries. Passing through the plateau and its forest, you will then reach Lavardin, one of the "most beautiful villages in France". Here you can admire the ruins of the medieval castle and the Saint-Genest church, famous for its exceptional set of murals. Then, you will cross the Loir River before following it to the Roches-l'Évêque. Other sites on the second part of the route are not lacking in attraction, such as the botanical park of La Fosse, one of the oldest arboretums in France, or the Musikenfête museum in Montoire.
