Archéologie et viticulture

Located on the banks of the Cher, about ten kilometres from the famous ZooParc de Beauval, Thésée is a must for lovers of archaeology and gastronomy. This wine village will reveal some of its assets along the "Archaeology and Viticulture" circuit.

On the tourist route of the Cher valley, Thésée is the most important Gallo-Roman site in the Loir-et-Cher. From the beginning of the tour you will be amazed by the historical richness of this village. Indeed, starting from the church, your steps will soon lead you to the Gallo-Roman remains of the Mazelles, a 2nd century monumental complex in a very good state of preservation. Its function has never been established with certainty, but several hypotheses have been put forward: a warehouse, a building for administrative and legal use... You will then continue your journey through woods and vineyards, other major attractions of the commune which counts no less than 13 winegrowers. After walking through these vineyards, why not extend your walk by tasting these Touraine wines?
