Guided visit of the old fortress of Mondoubleau
Discover the history of Mondoubleau by walking through the remains of its fortress built in the year 1000. From the Neolithic polishing post to the Governor's House, from the banks of the Grenne to the twisted bridge, take the time to visit this village in the Collines du Perche.
This 1000 years-old fortress has a 33-meter keep, within an enclosure about 500 metres long. The fortress shelters a Neolithic polisher which was found next to the fortress. Also to be discovered in Mondoubleau: the Governor's House with its wooden panelling (1460), the twisted bridge and all the buildings built in Roussard stone (iron-rich sandstone traditionally used in building in the region). Self visit.
