Château of Mézière

Family home lived in by the same family since 1893, this 16th century château was built on a Gallo-Roman villa to which it owes its name. The King of Navarre and his wife Jeanne d'Albret were guests in the house.

A family home since 1893, the 16th-century château was built on a Gallo-Roman villa from which it takes the name of Mézière. The little chapel, the sculpted porch, the slate-inlaid chimney pins like those at Chambord and the lovely Renaissance gallery give this residence a royal charm that was not lost on the King of Navarre, among others: the festivities for his wedding to Jeanne d'Albret were held here.
